First week of P90

So today was the end of the first week of the P90X workout plan. There are a total of 12 weeks. I must say I have been sore everyday. Something has hurt from day one, my arms, back, ass, legs, abs, all the above. I did skip two days, one for lack of sleep and one because I went tubing with my Sister. The programs recommends that you do not work out if you have not had at least seven hours of sleep.

The program is time consuming. My total workout time for the week was 8 hours and 14 minutes not including the 3 hours I was dragged behind a jet ski. I am wore out, sore and tried. The program consist of several different DVDs and you have a different DVD each day. For example yesterday I spent 58 minutes just working out my legs and let me tell you I feel it today. Thursday was yoga, which was an hour and a half and I swear to you the people were so flexible the could kiss their own butt.

The eating part was a challenge for me. Not because of what you cannot eat but because of what you must eat. Because of my size I have to eat 2000+ calories per day, this was an increase from my usual 1300 per day. Which you would think is easy but when you can only eat proteins, fruit's and veggies it becomes work. I have developed an absolute hatred for eggs. I was eating six egg whites in the AM. Just can't do it anymore. I hate them. Now I am doing a protein shake to make up for my detest of eggs. I did go to brunch with my friend Holly, where I ate waffles but according to the work out plan for that day I burned over 1000 calories. That was the day I worked out for almost three hours. So no guilt what so ever for the waffles.

If you are competitive then this is a good program. Each week your goal is to do better than the last week. I am very competitive so this works out for me. Do I regret starting this? No. In a week I have noticed my clothes are already fitting a little different. My reason for doing this was not to lose weight but to have a higher quality of health so I will be able to do things other people my age struggle with. I have not lost weight but I think I am losing size, so we shall see what week 2 brings.

Across the River and through the Woods

So my brother tells me a few days ago that he wanted to swim across the Suwannee River and did. I want to do that! However I just don't think my butt would make it across there before I decided to give up and drown. I also want to run a 1/2 marathon in March of 2010 but have never ran a race a day in my life. So I decided it was time to get serious and really start working out if I wanted to do these things without killing myself. My husband introduced me to the P90X system. His roommate is doing it and I found out some people at my gym were also using this program. How hard can it be if everyone is doing it? So I ordered the program and waited for its arrival. The next few blogs will document my journey on the 90 day program. I did take before pic's and will post them when I have something to compare the to, which should be in about 30 days.
